The Uninvited Stranger I walk in the house.
There’s two cups of tea on the table,
One by your hands,
Another untouched.
They’re still steaming,
Like you just made them for someone.

There’s stacks of papers shoved under things.
Your house is a mess,
And you try to cover that.
You ignore the papers
But I still see them everywhere
And then you sitting there with your cup of tea.

"Take off your coat and stay a while."
You smile at me.
I frown and look outside.
It’s snowing outside,
A blizzard,
But you haven’t turned on the heat
And you’re walking around in shorts.

I look back at the tea
And you
Two cups of
Keeper of Discord Sirens.

The police search the area,
The dogs baying
And men yelling.

The civilians stand
Under the cherry blossoms
And sunshine.
Waiting for the signal
That all is safe again.

The people are one creature:
All the same size
All the same clothes.
No movement
Except whispers.
Lips humming.
Hiding their accusations;
Leaving them in the open.

Who?
Who did it?
Who killed the King?

Her red hair waves
As she watches them.

My entry for the Autoshojo Cover Contest from :icontelophase:

Mine ended up evolving into a more shonen manga. Shonen usually appeals to me more than shojo. :D

Anyway, this was so much fun! First there was clicking on the autoshojo button and getting all sorts of crazy (but awesome) titles. (For those interested, it's here: [link]) So then once I got the title "Welcome to Misty Road," I ended up stopping, since that was the one that had the most formed story pop into my head. I love this story now. I'm actually going to write it out for NaNoWriMo this year. :)

The cover's mostly based off the FMA manga's style of layout, since that was the only manga I owned when I began this.

I love these characters and this world now, so this definitely is not the last you'll see of them from me.

EDIT: Cleaned up the drawing so it's not longer a colored pencil sketch. I still have lots of practice to do with computer shading though. ^^;

Welcome to Misty Road

...where the fantastic becomes ordinary.

Gorsnak is a demon bound to work on earth as punishment for her laziness. Kay is a wealthy aristocrat who is searching for his parents. The two have nothing in common... except a legendary sword and the desire to get off Misty Road.

When Kay returns home from school to find his parents missing, he grabs his father's sword and goes looking for them. He soon finds himself on a path called Misty Road... and then discovers he can't get off the road! Supernatural events are common place on Misty Road, the most surprising being the discovery that a 100 year old demon is bound to his father's sword!



Volume Two preview:

Gorsnak is a demon bound to work on earth as punishment for her laziness. Kay is a wealthy aristocrat who is searching for his parents. The two have nothing in common... except a legendary sword and the desire to get off Misty Road.

Just as Kay and Gorsnak are starting to learn to get along, they run into a small human boy who got on to Misty Road in the same way as Kay. The boy offers to lead the way off Misty Road in exchange for food and company. Kay isn't sure what to make of the newcomer and his offer... and then discovers the boy has a Demon Sword of his own!



...I could probably write out summaries for up to the end of the series since I know it all, but I'll stop there. I'll give you all another preview if I make another cover. ;)

Lol, I like your idea here. Strange that you managed to make your demon girl be cute, hehe, but you would manage that, knowing you. ;) After you write the story, you should consider illustrating the whole thing in a manga format. I'd read it for sure if it was there to read. :)

Lol, but I love the idea of a cute demon girl! It's so... weird!

And I'd consider doing the whole thing as a manga NOW, but I have trouble with all the extra poses and views of the face that a manga would need. :P I was barely able to handle the gripping the sword and sitting on the shoulder pose in this one.

It did kind of turn into more of a shonen manga, but it still sounds really cool! It's probably something that I would buy. =3

Very nice job on the cover art, it's obvious that you put a lot into its creation. It really looks like an actual manga cover.

Now I kinda want to do something like this, but I'm not sure if I have the ability. xDD

Thanks! And you should try anyway, just for lolz and fun, you know? :D It's great fun! It doesn't matter how technically well you do it, it'll turn out great if you have fun trying. ;)
